The Government of India has officially imposed a temporary ban on the popular instant messaging application Telegram, and the authorities have taken the new decision in favour of the upcoming NEET examination.
Government restricts Telegram ahead of the NEET examination
The central government of India has imposed a temporary restriction on the very popular instant messaging application Telegram ahead of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination, and the authorities have taken the decision due to concerns over the spread of misleading content related to exam integrity.
Moreover, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has also welcomed the new decision of the government, alleging that certain features of the instant messaging app had been exploited to create fabricated “paper leak” evidence after examinations were conducted. Now let’s check out what has been restricted on Telegram in India.
Telegram access is restricted or blocked in the country until June 22 this year and it is also revealed that the editing of existing messages in the instant messaging application is also disabled until June 30.
Banning an instant messaging app to prevent cheating could mark a historic first for examinations worldwide. What are your thoughts on this move? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for more instant updates right at your fingertips.
