The South Korean electronics giant Samsung has announced its new chipsets and that includes the flagship processor which will power up its upcoming flagship smartphones. So, without wasting any time let’s dive into the article to check out the complete details of the new chips.
Let’s start with the Exynos 990, it’s built on the 7nm EUV (Extreme Ultra Violet) lithography processing technology and that will offer better power efficiency. The new flagship chipset also comes with a tri-cluster CPU structure and that has two powerful custom cores, two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores as well as four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. The processor also features a dual-core neural processing unit (NPU) and an improved digital signal processor (DSP).
The Exynos 990 supports Mali-G77 MP11 GPU, the company claims to be the first premium GPU based on the new Valhall architecture. It also improves graphic performance and power efficiency by up to 20 percent, and supports LPDDR5 with data rates of up to 5,500 megabits per second (MB/s). Along with that, it has 10-bit video and HDR display support, and supports the 120Hz refresh-rate display driver.
Speaking about the camera department, the Exynos 990 supports up to six sensors with ultra-high resolution up to 108 MP, and it also has DRAM encryption engine to protect data safer with faster processing speed.
Regarding the connectivity, it chipset supports a wide range of networks like 5G’s sub-6GHz and mmWave spectrums to 2G GSM/CDMA, 3G WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA, and 4G LTE. There’s the E-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity (EN-DC), it combines LTE and 5G connectivity to maximize mobile downlink speed. The company will start the mass production of the processor by the end of this year and that means we can expect it on the Galaxy S11 series.
Coming to the Exynos 5123 5G chip, It’s also based on the 7nm EUV process. The chipset supports network spectrums ranging from sub-6GHz 5G all the way to 2G. With this chip, the company claims to offer a peak downlink speed of up to 7.35Gbps in mmWave spectrum.
