Acer Chromebook Spin 514 With AMD Ryzen 3000 C-Series Mobile Processor Launched In Time for CES 2021

Yesterday we reported about the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 with a QLED Display, and today we have another Chromebook from Acer named Acer Chromebook Spin 514. It has been launched just before the CES 2021 takes off and the Chromebook is powered by the AMD Ryzen CPU.

Specifications of Acer Chromebook Spin 514

Speaking about the build, it has a 360-degree spin hinge that enables the notebook to be used in tent mode, laptop mode or tablet mode. The laptop comes with a military grade-certified build and the company claims it can survive drops from heights of up to 122cm and withstand up to 60kg of downward force. It features a 14-inch touch display with thin bezels and Full HD resolution. Besides, it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass as well. It features a 78% screen to body ratio and the chassis is made of anodised, sandblasted aluminium whereas the lid and touchpad feature a diamond-cut pattern.

Under the hood, it is powered by the latest generation of AMD Ryzen mobile processor called AMD Ryzen 3000 C-Series mobile processors. In addition, there are other models powered by AMD Ryzen 7 3700C or Ryzen 5 3500C quad-core processors and paired with AMD Radeon Vega Mobile Graphics. Regarding the memory configuration, it comes with up to 16GB DDR4 DRAM and up to 256GB storage. As you know, it runs on ChromeOS and thus comes with the ability to enrol in enterprise administration when online and is backed by Google Play Store.

Acer claims, the battery will last up to 10 hours and the whole package weighs just 1.55KG. Coming to the connectivity aspect, it includes two USB Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 1 port that can clock a speed of 5Gbps and DisplayPort connectivity and USB charging. In addition, there is a microSD card reader slot, an HDMI port, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac), 2×2 MU-MIMO technology, HD webcam, and Bluetooth 5.0. For multimedia, there are dual mics, HD webcam, stereo speakers and finally support for Google Assistant too.

Pricing and Availability

It is priced $479 (approx INR 35,000) whereas it will retail for EUR 529 (roughly Rs. 47,400) in the European markets. Acer will start selling these models by February and March in the American and European markets respectively. There is an Enterprise Edition, named Acer Chromebook Enterprise Spin 514 that starts at $749 and EUR 799. The Enterprise edition will make it to market by the month of March. However, Acer has not revealed any dates or pricing for the Indian market.
