Adani Group who has an upper hand in ports along with coal, energy distribution, and aviation, now the group is all set to enter into the telecom industry. It is revealed that Adani group is planning to enter into the race to purchase telecom spectrum for the new generation 5G connectivity in the country.
With the new decision, Adani Group will face Jio along with Airtel and Vodafone Idea in the industry. Applications for participating for the upcoming auction which is set on July 26 and it is for airwaves including 5G telecom services such as ultra-high-speed internet connectivity, closed on Friday with at least four applications.
Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea are the three names who have applied for the same and now it is said that the fourth applicant is Adani Group, it is also said that the company has secured National Long Distance (NLD) and International Long Distance (ILD) licences as well.
Having said that, there is a rule that ownership details of all the players must be published on July 12 which means we will get a confirmation very soon.
There will be a total of 72097.85 MHz of spectrum with a validity period of 20 years and it is also said that the spectrum can be surrendered after 10 years.
The auction will be held for spectrum in various Low (600MHz, 700MHz, 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2300MHz), Mid (3300MHz), and High (26GHz) frequency bands.
Interestingly, Ambani and Adani, who hail from Gujarat and created Mega business setup but never came face to face. However, as Adani is coming into the telecom sector now both Gujarat players will face each other.
