Airtel the largest mobile network of the country, is all set to launch the VoLTE technology across the country by next year.
Since the Reliance Jio has stepped its footprints into the telecom sector, there is huge hype about the VoLTE service. And now Airtel has said that they will upgrade to the voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology in the market within the next 12 to 18 months. The company has already given $60 million to contract with Nokia to implement the technology across the country. It is also said that the company is launching the technology in few areas of the country.
With this service, it allows operator to give both voice and data without switching between the bands. It also offers spectral efficiency, which may help operator to deal with the call drop situation to an extent. Moreover, with this technology it will give you better battery life, less call set up time and better voice quality.
Currently, only Reliance Jio is the only operator who offers the VoLTE service in the country. But we expect that Vodafone and Idea will also join the league, as Airtel has started the initiative.
