Thank you so much for the awesome support and love of the latest series – Akhil Explains. I feel blessed after seeing your messages in my chatbox and many people asked questions about various topics and I promise each and every one of you that I will cover all of them weekly. Today I will talk about the things which you must do on your new smartphone. There are many things that we must follow and check whenever we purchase a new smartphone and you will get all the answers in this article and this will help you to get the best of your smartphone. So let’s get into the article to check out the things which you need to do on a new smartphone.
Shoot a video of the unboxing
These days we purchase new smartphones and other items for our home or office online and you may aware of some incidents which offered stone or soap inside the package. So always shoot a video on some other phone or camera which is already available at your end, keep it as a record and the same will help you if something unusual happens.
Check out your brand new smartphone
So now you are holding the best technology in your hand because you always buy a new smartphone with advanced technologies and features when compared to your existing smartphone. Before using the smartphone, you must know about your device and for that, you need to check out each and every aspect of the device.
Go through the ports and other elements of the device and make sure that you’re having the correct one in your hand. You can check the manuals and packaging to know the complete details of the ports and other elements of the device or you can also check out TechnoBugg and our YouTube channel for the best information about the device which you are holding in your hand. Understanding the phone is an important task before you use it as your daily driver.
Use good covers
The protection of your new smartphone is very important and for that, you need to use good quality covers. If the brand of your smartphone is providing covers or cases then purchase it or you can go to the third-party cases but make sure that the same is solid and features good quality.
Set up the device
Now let’s switch on the device for the first time and when you turn on the phone you will find a walkthrough process where you need to select your desired language and these days smartphone brands ask whether you want to carry some extra applications and if you don’t wish to have them then simply skip and login with your Google account carefully and I would say you to login with primary Google account because the same will help you to connect your phone with other Google services like a calendar and more.
In between that, you need to connect with a wireless network if the same is available at your side otherwise you can go with your data connection and for that, you need to insert your SIM card inside the phone. Now you can also able to backup data from your old smartphone to the new device and this will include your contact list and more. Having said that, while setting the phone you must setup the privacy features like face unlock along with the fingerprint scanner (if the same is available on your device) and also the traditional unlocking things i.e PIN or a password and this is very important because the same will help your phone secured.
Charge your toy
You are going to play with your new smartphone for the next couple of hours continuously and before that, you must charge your smartphone completely because this device may not have a complete battery. It is worth mentioning that you must charge the device until the battery reaches 100% instead of plugging it for the next couple of hours because there is a myth, which people follow by plugging the device into the charger for many hours and that is utter nonsense. I will cover a dedicated article on the charging myth as well in the coming weeks.
You must charge the device only when the battery runs out or when the device shows the warning of low battery and disconnect the charger whenever the device reaches close to the 100 percent mark. This will give you a long-lasting battery.
Personalize your smartphone
Now you need to personalize your smartphone according to your taste and style. You can able to add widgets by holding down on the home screen of your smartphone and the same will bring the complete list of widgets and you can also get wallpapers that are coming with the smartphone or by downloading third-party applications. The personalizing process will also help you to learn more about your device including some additional features and offerings like various smartphone brands implementing custom skin over the original Android operating system and that custom skin features some extra goodies. Also, check options that are available in the settings of your smartphone and the same will help you to get the best from your device.
Update everything
You must check for the new version of the software in the settings app and the same can be checked manually by heading to the About Section in the Settings app of your smartphone. You also need to update all the applications which are installed on your smartphone and the same can be done by visiting Google Play Store. Having the latest version in the new smartphone is pretty good because the same will give you a better experience.
Disable bloatware
Bloatware is something that causes the slow down issue in smartphones and you must remove or disable those things whenever you are set with your new smartphone.
The bloatware never comes into use in your daily routine and the same runs in the background and eats your data along with the battery. The cache and the other data of that bloatware make the devices slow as well. To avoid such a situation, you must disable or uninstall that bloatware from your smartphone and this can be done by visiting the Apps menu in your Settings and locating any apps that came pre-loaded on your phone. Some applications will enable you to uninstall but there are some applications may not allow you to uninstall, in that case, simply disable them.
Never use antivirus and RAM Booster applications
Google Play Store is having lots of antivirus and RAM Booster applications, never install those kinds of applications on your smartphone. The Android operating system is coming with inbuilt antivirus and the same will protect your device from Malware and other things. On the other hand, RAM Booster applications are also simply useless because the same cannot able to do big changes in your device and the same utilize the processing power of the device as well and the same will slow down your device.
When going through your device’s initial setup, it may also ask you to register for additional malware protection or other extra services. Feel free to skip these offers; you really shouldn’t have to sign up for anything beyond your Google account during setup.
Enhance your storage management
Storage management is a crucial part to get the maximum benefits from your new smartphone, you must move all the things which you can able to move to an SD card (if the same is available on your device).
You must install the unwanted applications from your smartphone and if there are some applications which you use rarely, kick them out as well. Having said that, if you purchased a device that does not have big storage space then you can check on the alternatives of big applications for example, Facebook consumes lots of data and requires a huge amount of space but you can go with the lite version of Facebook and the same will not consume too much data and storage.
Set downloading limit
Instant messaging applications like WhatsApp have become an important part of our daily life and the same also enables us to get in touch with our near and dear ones as well as our official activities. We need to come across various multimedia files in the instant messaging applications and that includes photos along with videos, audio messages, and more. It consumes a lot of storage and you can avoid it was simply limiting the download and you can able to set it by manual downloading setting and this will help you to save some amount of storage. As you will only download the media which you want to check on your smartphone and the unwanted media will not be downloaded.
