In smartphone industry, everyone has a question from past few months that what will be the name of next Android version i.e. Android O. Some popular sweet product names were floating on internet from the time of Google I/O 2017. And even few hours before the launching of the latest version of Android, we seen a leak. But as Google has announced that they are going to unveil Android O on 21st August in New York i.e. today. Now Google has done the same and unveiled the official name of Android O.
The next version of the world’s most favorite smartphone OS is named as “Android Oreo”, and it comes with version number 8.0 . Oreo is the most popular sweet product that starts with letter O, and it is also the most predicted name for Android O from past few months. Google says that this Android Oreo is “Safer, Smarter, More Powerful, and Sweeter Than Ever.” Google has also released some new features & improvements with Android Oreo.
Before we get into the new features of the latest sweet from Android, let me say something about the all new Oreo. It has been licenced from Nabisco, Google is not joining its hand with the company for the first time. Previously, the Mountain View company joined its hand, when Android 4.4 KitKat unveiled. And then the partnership delivered Android-branded KitKat bars across the globe. So let’s have a look at them:
- Autofill:
If you will login to Facebook on your Chrome Browser, then install the app and try to login, Android Oreo will detect your Facebook credentials from Chrome Browser and automatically login the account in the app with this new Autofill feature. This is an handy feature as we don’t want to put the credentials of same account in different apps of a smartphone.
- Picture-in-Picture:
In this feature users can multitasking with the floating screen. Like if a user want to do a video chat on Skype & also want to do a calculation on Calculator app, then the user can minimize & make a floating window of the Skype chat & do the calculations, this will give more screen to the calculator & makes the task easier. This is an improved version of Split screen that was launched with Android Nougat last year.

Other Important Features and Improvements:
- Notifications Dots.
- Android Instant Apps.
- Google Play Protect.
- Improved Battery Life.
- New Sets & Designs of Emoji.
- 2x Faster Boot Speed.
- Optimised Background Limits.
- Bluetooth audio improvements.
These are some of the new features and improvements of Android 8.0 Oreo. As of now Google hasn’t revealed that when the stable built of this new version will arrive on compatible Pixel and Nexus smartphones. But they should get it very soon. Also as of now Google hasn’t revealed the availability of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for OEMs to develop this new version for their smartphones. So expect Android 8.0 Oreo to arrive on smartphones from the end of this year (December) or early 2018 (January).
So that’s all the information we have as of now. What are your thoughts on this new Android 8.0 Oreo? Are you happy with this name or you want any other name? Also what’s your favourite feature of Android Oreo? Do let us know in the comments below. Also stay tuned with us for more information.
