The Mountain View company Google has officially announced that the very popular mobile operating system Android is now supporting the digital credential presentation as well as issuance. The company has implemented this setup with native support for OpenID4VP and OpenID4VCI standards, and the same are being integrated within Android’s Credential Manager.
With the latest implementation, users can be able to save digital credentials on their device within any app that supports the DigitalCredential API. The supported applications can also be able to share the information with other apps and you can be able to use them to upload the credentials or present them wherever it is required.
Google is also taking care of security as well as privacy reasons, the transfers will happen over the encrypted communication tunnels. So everything will be safe and Secure.
The digital credentials are cryptographically verifiable documents, and the list of supported documents including driver’s license, passports, or national IDs, education certificates, insurance policies, memberships, permits, and more.
