Android Oreo Open Beta Update Rolling Out To OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T

Last month we got a leaked screenshot which revealed that OnePlus had started rolling out Closed Beta update of OnePlus 3 based on Android 8.0 Oreo. At that time we estimated that the Open/Public Beta update on Android Oreo will rollout on 1st week of October. Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out to be true. But OnePlus didn’t keep us awaited, as today they rollout out the new Open Beta update for OnePlus 3 & 3T based on Android Oreo. So let see what are the changes in this new Oreo Open Beta.

This is the Open Beta 25 & 16 for OnePlus 3 & 3T respectively. It brings all Android Oreo goodies like Picture-in-Picture Mode, Autofill and New Quick Setting Design. To know about all Android Oreo features, click here. Apart from all these Oreo changes, OnePlus has some of their own changes as well, now you can add your OnePlus account to access your uploaded photo on Shot on OnePlus. Also the security patch is being updated to September 2017. Below is the whole changelog, along with some UI change screenshots :

As this is an Open Beta update, some bugs are expected. OnePlus has officially posted about some bugs that will come with this new Open Beta. The fingerprint sensor might work slowly, Google Photos shortcut is unavailable, Bluetooth & NFC issues, and some 3rd party apps compatibility issues. So I suggest to all OnePlus 3 & 3T users who are on stable built, update to Open Beta on your own risk. & If you want to update to this Open Beta, download the Full ROM of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, and follow the instructions from the download link. In case you don’t like this new Open Beta and you want to revert back to Android Nougat Open Beta, head over to the source link below for the special nougat ROM, as this time you are reverting from one major Android version to another.

So that’s all the information we have as of now. We are expecting the stable built to come later this year, maybe in November end or December end. As I am personally using this new Open Beta on OnePlus 3, I will be posting a review of this new Open Beta very soon. So stay tuned with us for the review & for more information as well.
