When Apple releases a new gadget, it is often the talk of the town. The latest entry being the AirPods Max, people are testing and chatting about it all over the internet. Now a new support page has been shared by the company explaining the charging and battery of the new headphones.
According to the document, the headphones automatically trigger a low power mode when the headphones are unused for more than 5 minutes. It helps preserve the battery according to the company. Furthermore, if the headphones are left unattended for 72 hours it goes into an even more aggressive low power mode that turns off Bluetooth and Find My service that helps you pinpoint the headphones when afar.
In case you did not know, the AirPods Max come with a free carrying case that controls the power saving modes when put in it. Once you put the headphones into the case, it instantly goes into a low power mode. After 18 hours of spending in the case, it goes into an ultrapower mode and switches Bluetooth and Find My feature off. This mode is called ‘ultralow’ power mode by the company and this not to be confused with ‘lower’ power mode that is triggered if the case is not used even though, they both seem to have the same function.
If you wonder why is there so many steps and terms to using the AirPods Max, it is because the pair lacks a power button and the company has decided to put its intelligence to the test and let it control the state of the headphones. However, this adds to the inevitable battery wear which could have been solved with a traditional power button.
