During the WWDC 2021 event conducted by Apple, the company introduced – iCloud+, a subscription-based service. It aims to improve the privacy of Apple users and offer iCloud storage. Some of the features the company is offering in the service include iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and expanded support for HomeKit Secure Video cameras.
Starting with the Privacy Relay service, it adds a layer of security to the traffic data moving out of the Apple devices. This will double down on the security aspect making it impossible for anyone including Apple to uncover the data. This feature will be available for all iCloud paid users. Apple has informed that they will not charge any additional fee for the iCloud+ service.
Another feature in the iCloud+ subscription is called Hide My Email. Like the name, it will hide user emails by filling in random email addresses which will receive the email sent by the client and forward it to the user’s email afterwards. This helps keep the user’s email address private and secure. Users can access the Hide My Email feature in Safari, iCloud settings, and Mail. The feature creates an unlimited number of random email addresses and allows users to delete them at any time. This passes the control directly to the user and also helps reduce spam.
The plan starts from $0.99 per month and Indians will have to pay Rs. 75 per month. If you stick to the basic plan it will include 50GB iCloud storage and storage support for one HomeKit Secure Video camera. If you opt for a tier 2 plan worth $2.99 per month in America or Rs. 219 in India it will entail 200GB of iCloud storage and will support up to five HomeKit Secure Video cameras. Finally, the top tier plan with 2TB iCloud storage combined with support for unlimited HomeKit Secure Video cameras is priced at $9.99 per month and Rs. 749 in the US and in India respectively.
