Yesterday, Apple announced that they are doubling the storage on the Mac mini. Mac mini now starts with 256 GB storage for $799, and the 512 GB version costs $1099. That’s all they have done in the new lineup.
Apple did not announce it or hold an event for this release instead gave a footnote on the Macbook Air announcement. This makes sense considering there’s nothing to boast about this slight change.
Anyone looking to purchase on should know that the mac mini still comes with an outdated eighth-generation Intel chip with 8 GB of RAM even in 2020. Apple did update the Mac mini (2014) after four years.
The 2018 model seems to repeat history and is now going unnoticed by the maker. If our guess is right, it will be 2022 before we see a significant upgrade to the lineup. Mac mini was once known for its affordable price tag and compact form with decent performance. But it is now ridiculed for the underwhelming performance and the premium price tag.
