iOS 14
Home Screen Widgets

Apple has finally caved in and introduced home screen widgets on iOS 14. Yes, its the same function that Android users been using for ages. With the home screen widgets, iPhone users can arrange the essential interactive shortcuts right on their home screen. With home screen widgets, you can see your activity data from your Apple watch on the home screen. This helps you to glace through your heart rate, calories burned, etc without going into the app. It also helps you see the music currently playing on your iPhone or understand the weather without going into the app. Widgets open a whole new possibility to iPhone users to extend the functionality of the iPhone even more. In the coming days, you can expect more app developers to add widget support for their apps making the feature even more useful.
Picture in Picture

Following the widgets, we have a Picture in Picture which gets introduced in iOS 14. What it does is, it allows users to watch videos in a resizable rectangle box which only takes a portion of your screen In this way a person who wishes to chat in messaging applications like iMessage or Whatsapp can do so without interrupting the video. You must know that the video continues its playback inside any apps and not just the messaging apps. The video will continue to play in the foreground in a small box. The viewing experience can be tweaked according to your preference and move the video to any place you like so it does not block your view.
Siri and Translate App

Apple’s own Voice Assistant, Siri gets redesigned with new animations and features. With iOS 14, when Siri is summoned, it will appear in an all-new glowing avatar. Now the voice assistant will pop up on the current page the user is in and will not use a dedicated area. It now allows users to share audio using the newly found abilities.

Apple has introduced a dedicated app for the translation of languages. It helps you translate audios and text into the language you desire. tvOS 14
With the latest tvOS 14, Apple TV device over the existing tvOS version will be compatible with Xbox Elite 2 and Xbox Adaptive controls. The operating system will also feature the multi-user capability and the same will enable users to play games with their loved ones easily. It is worth to mention that, the tvOS already supports Apple Arcade’s and that will allow you to play your favourite Arcade game on a big screen and it also supports transferring the Arcade games which you’re playing on your iPhone or iPad directly on your Apple TV.
Apple also enables PiP support in the latest version of the operating system and the same will help you to play multiple videos on a single screen. It also allows you to access PiP while using AirPlay and the tvOS 14 brings the 4K video streaming support via AirPlay in the Photos app. Furthermore, the company has unveiled an Audio Sharing feature on Apple TV devices and it will work with AirPods, alongside that the company also brings Home app support on tvOS 14. The company also confirmed that third-party music services are coming to HomePod but there’s no information about the list of those services,
The company also updates its HomeKit, Apple joins hand with the home alliance that includes Amazon, Comcast, Google, Samsung’s SmartThings, among others. Everyone will work together on bringing new smart home solutions and Apple has also open-sourced the HomeKit SDK which will ease-the use and privacy.
Moreover, the latest version of the tvOS 14 comes with an updated Home app which will provide you automation suggestion for your smart home devices which means it will suggest on what automation feature which you will get it from your connected device once you add it on the Home app. It also features the expanded controls in the Control Centre which will provide quicker access to your devices and scenes.
The company also brings an Adaptive Lighting feature for compatible lights and the same will automatically adjust the colour temperature throughout the day. The Home app on the new iOS will offer interface-level changes to showcase visual status. Apple also brings a new set up in the latest version of the operating system of Apple TV and it will enable you to see if someone at your door cameras on the TV.
Apple is also bringing new privacy features in the App Store and that includes summaries of developers, self-reported privacy practices of App Store product pages, and the company expanding the sign in with Apple by offering users to upgrade the existing account with a unified sign-in option.
watchOS 7
Sleep Tracking
Catching up with other smartwatches, Apple Watch finally gets sleep tracking. It was one of the most demanded features by the Apple Watch users. Sleep tracking lets users manually set time for when they wish to go to bed and wake up. During the sleep, Apple Watches running WatchOS 7 will actively track the sleep pattern and analyze breathing. In addition, WatchOS 7 also lets you set sleep duration goals that will help you have a fresh morning and live healthily.

With the introduction of sleep tracking, Apple products will remind you when it’s time to sleep with a wind-down mode. It minimizes distraction by turning on DND mode and blocking notifications. you can even set the lock screen to show calming wallpapers. It can even display shortcuts to your favorite meditation app or play relaxing music. The wind-down feature also turns off the Apple Watch display and helps you sleep.
New Watch Faces and Fitness App
WatchOS 7 has introduced a lot of new watch faces which you can either download from the App Store or go to the Apple website to do the same. It also allows you to share watch faces with your loved ones so they can have the same one as yours via Face Sharing feature.
WatchOS 7 also brings functionality to remind you to wash your hands well. It can out the time for you to keep washing your hands. When the time is up, the Apple Watch will greet you too.. The company has employed sensors to keep track of it. If the time is not adequate, Apple Watch nudges you to wash properly.
Finally, Apple Watches will get a revamped fitness app complete with design changes and new UI elements. For starters, the app on the iPhone has been renamed to ‘Fitness’ from ‘Activity’. They have also introduced new exercise modes like dance mode among others. The app shows data such as burned calories, progress, heartbeat, etc.
