It was recently confirmed that Google Gemini will power Siri and today we got a new piece of information that says Apple will be launching a chatbot-style version of the assistant. The source says that Apple is currently working on a new Siri chatbot and the same is internally codenamed Campos.
The company is expected to introduce the same with the upcoming iOS 27, macOS 27, and iPadOS 27 and the company will replace the existing Siri. It is also reported that the upcoming Siri chatbot will function as a standalone app built into Apple devices.
It is also said that the same will be supporting natural language conversations similar to ChatGPT and Gemini, and can be invoked using the “Siri” wake word or by holding the side button on the iPhone and iPad.
Apple will use a custom model based on Google’s Gemini and the chatbot will reportedly be capable of performing web searches, answering queries, generating images, summarizing text, analyzing uploaded documents and on-screen content, controlling device settings, and using personal data for select tasks.
It is also said that the upcoming Siri chatbot will be deeply integrated across Apple’s apps as well. Apple is expected to introduce the same during the upcoming WWDC 2026 and it usually happens in June every year.
