The Cupertino giant, Apple has finally unveiled the iPhone 12 Series, laying the rest of all the rumors and leaks. The latest members of the iPhone family come with the 5G connectivity and bigger screens. This year we have a total of four new iPhones – the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. All these smartphones are powered by the latest SoC designed by Apple called the Bionic A14 chipset. Let us see the detailed breakdown specifications and prices of the smartphones unveiled today.
iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini
The iPhone 12 Mini features a 5.4-inch and iPhone 12 features a larger 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED Display that would produce 478 PPI along with a 2,000,000 contrast ratio. The display features a 960 x 1079 pixel resolution and the refresh rate is set at 60 Hz. The edges are made of aluminum. The peak brightness is measured at 1,200 nits and the display supports HDR and Dolby Vision and HLG. The display is protected by a new technology that Apple calls ‘Ceramic Shield’, which according to the company offers 4X better drop performance.
It is powered by the most powerful SoC in the world, the A14 Bionic chipset built on 5nm architecture. The chipset houses 11.8 Billion transistors and the company claims it offers 50% better CPU and GPU performance and 70% better Machine Learning capabilities which no other smartphone can match. All iPhones powered by the A14 Bionic will support League of Legends coming soon to these latest smartphones.
Moving to the cameras it features a 12MP main camera with an f/1.6 aperture and supports OIS. In addition, it supports 4K video recording at 60fps. The secondary camera is a 12MP ultrawide angle camera with f/2.4 aperture in combination with a 5P lens that supports 120-degree FOV. It supports Deep Fusion 2, Smart HDR 3, Night Mode, and Time Lapse video recording. The selfie camera comes with a 12MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. Thanks to the improved computing its capable of recording night-mode time-lapse via all three cameras.
The new MagSafe system allows the iPhones to top up with a speed of up to 15W wirelessly. Using it, the connection between the wireless pad and the smartphone is improved vastly thanks to the coil mechanism. The MagSafe accessories include cases like Silicon, Clear, and Leather which can snap onto the MagSafe. The company has also teased MagSafe wallets and so on. They will allow other accessory makers like Belkin to design accessories with support for MagSafe.
The iPhone 12 Mini starts at $699 and the iPhone 12 starts at $799 in the US. The 64/128/256 GB of the iPhone 12 Mini is priced at INR 69,900, INR 74,900, and INR 84,900 respectively. The 64/128/256 GB of the iPhone 12 is priced at INR 79,900, INR 84,900, and INR 94,900 respectively. It will be available in Blue, Green, Black, White and (PRODUCT) RED colours.
The iPhone 12 Mini will be available for pre-order from November 6 and the shipping dates are set for November 13. Whereas the iPhone 12 can be pre-ordered from October 16 and will be available in stores from October 23.
iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
The iPhone 12 Pro Series comes with stainless steel sides sandwiched between the same Ceramic Shield Glass protection from Corning. It comes in Elegant Silver, Rich Deep Graphite, Gold, and Pacific Blue finish. The iPhone 12 Pro features a 6.1 Super Retina XDR OLED Display and the iPhone 12 Pro Max grows into a 6.7-inch display. It comes with 458 PPI density. It supports the same 1,200 peak brightness, contrast ratio, 10-bit HDR display as the iPhone 12 models. It’s powered by the same A14 Bionic SoC.
Moving to the camera department, the Pro models extend the support Deep Fusion to all four cameras including the front camera. The triple camera array starts with a 12MP main camera with f/1.6 aperture. The 7P lens supports OIS and 100% Focus Pixels. The secondary camera is a 12MP ultrawide camera with f/2.4 aperture and 120-degree FOV. The third camera in the array is a 12MP telephoto sensor that has an f/2.0 aperture. It supports 2.5X Optical Zoom and OIS, with sensor-shift stabilization. In terms of video recording, it supports 10-bit HDR Dolby Video recording in 4K resolution at 60fps. These can be edited in the Photos app or any third-party software. The iPhone 12 Pro models come with a first-ever LiDAR scanner. It is capable of depth mapping the surroundings and complement AR apps. It also helps in faster autofocus in low light and improves portrait shots.
The connectivity options for the first time include 5G in mmWave and sub 6GHz across the USA with Smart Data Mode. It’s capable of touching up to 4 Gbps download and 200 Mbps speed. The charging cable is now USB-C to Lightning connector and will be included in the box but the charging brick and earphones will be sold separately. Extra features include Face ID, IP68 Dust, and Water Resistance. It supports Dual Sim functionality with one physical sim and the other being an eSIM. All the iPhone models will run iOS 14 out of the box.
The iPhone 12 Pro starts at $999 and the iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at $1099 in the US. The 128/256/512 GB of the iPhone 12 Pro is priced at INR 1,19,900, INR 1,29,900, and INR 1,49,900 respectively. The 128/256/512 GB of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is priced at INR 1,29,900, INR 1,39,900, and 1,59,900 respectively. It will be available in Pacific Blue, Gold, Graphite, and Silver colors.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order from November 6 and the shipping dates are set for November 13. Whereas the iPhone 12 Pro can be pre-ordered from October 16 and will be available in stores from October 23.
