Apple is working on an advanced feature to unlock iPhone using your face instead of a fingerprint or passcodes. Apple is testing this future technology to allow users to log in, authenticate payments, and launch apps by scanning their face 3D structure. This technology is powered by a new 3-D sensor which has best in class accuracy and focal points.
The sensor scan a user’s face and unlock the iPhone within a few hundred milliseconds, It is designed to work even if the device is laying flat on a table, rather than just close up to the face. The technology is still being tested and it will replace the Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
Apple introduced Touch ID feature in iPhone 5s, 2013 for unlocking the smartphone, later added support for authenticating payments and logging into apps. The face detection unlocking feature captures more data points than a fingerprint scan, making it more secure than the Touch ID system, or passcode.
Samsung included iris scanners to unlock their phones and make payments by just scanning their eyes. Samsung’s feature on its Galaxy S8 smartphone revealed many negative outcomes as the sensor can be tricked  with printed photocopies of eyes. Hackers have successfully bypassed the iris scanner unlocked the smartphone using a printed photo with a contact lens on top of it, and in a video, clearly shown the bypassed method just fooled the iris scanner by photographs. But in terms of Apple’s sensor, featuring a  3-D depth helps authenticated login or other actions performed safely.
Apple is also testing next-gen iPhone prototypes with a dedicated chip for performing artificial intelligence tasks, this chip is called the Apple Neural Engine and high density screens that can display anything at a higher frame rate. The faster screens in testing are the same as the ProMotion displays in Apple’s latest iPad tablets.
The new iphone 8 design is already discussed in some articles, it will glass on both the front and back that curves at the edges. In Between, the glass front and back holds the power and volume rockers in the stainless steel frames. The company is testing this 3D face recognition technology for the OLED versions. Apple is also planning to update the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus with OLED display instead of using its existing LCD screens. All the devices will sport super fast  sensors and processors to handle tasks efficiently.
