Welcome everyone to our Best of 2022 series on the second last day of 2022. Today we are going to cover Best Value Flagship Smartphones launched in 2022. This category is very unique. It’s not filled with tons of good options, but few devices launched in this segment created most hype this year. It’s the price range of ₹30,000 to ₹40,000.
Yes, for many of us touching the price of ₹40,000 means getting a proper flagship. But sadly things have changed now and many companies are not providing their true flagship smartphones even below ₹50,000 price point. So it’s better to digest the fact that this is the new norm now. But I believe for most of us, smartphones at this price point are more than enough. Now without any further delay, let’s get to know the Best Value Flagship Smartphones of 2022.
-
Nothing Phone (1):
Starting off with the most hyped smartphone of the year, the Nothing Phone (1). It is the first smartphone from this new brand by Carl Pie (former co-founder of OnePlus), so the stakes were very high. And the brand fulfilled the same. It has a unique transparent design with Glyph Interface light, which glows according to the processes going in the phone. It’s the only new thing we saw in a smartphone this year. Apart from this the new Nothing OS skin is also very new and great in use. Initially it had a bunch of bugs, but Nothing fixed those very quickly and gained praises from consumers. Specs wise it has Snapdragon 778G+ chipset and 50MP+50MP camera setup (no nonsense 2MP sensors). But if you want to try something different, Nothing Phone (1) is the best choice of this year.

Motorola Edge 30 Fusion:
Motorola is literally killing this year in a positive way. Though it’s still not getting the hype and limelight which it deserves, but the smartphones launched by the company this year are really great and easily recommendable. The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion is a great device in this segment providing great value in terms of both hardware and software. It houses Snapdragon 888+ chipset, 10-Bit OLED Display with 144Hz refresh rate, in-display fingerprint sensor, and a great build quality with glass back & aluminum frame. The stock android is always a great thing about Motorola, and is one of the reason to get this smartphone. But the camera could have been better. Overall, a great package for the price.
-
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE:
Samsung launched their Galaxy S21 FE in the very beginning of this year, after a great success of Galaxy S20 FE. At first the price of this device was around ₹50,000 but it’s gone down very much, and now it’s under this segment. It offers some great specs like Snapdragon 888 chipset, AMOLED Display with 120Hz refresh rate, and aluminium frame. It has proper triple camera setup consisting the regular, wide angle, and a telephoto lens as well. The One UI on this devices is also quite optimized and the software will give you a good experience. Some extra features like wireless charging (& reverse too), IP68 rating, and in-display fingerprint sensor makes it a very premium smartphone in this segment. Probably the best smartphone from tier 1 brand this year.
-
OnePlus 10R:
Now comes a phone from the brand which used to rule this segment single handedly from many years, but went down miserably this year, the OnePlus 10R. This device is actually pretty good, a bit overpriced but still good. It has MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset, 10-Bit 120Hz AMOLED Display, great battery capacity with fast charging, and in-display fingerprint sensor. It is the first time OnePlus went for a MediaTek chipset and the result turns out good. But we know that having a MediaTek processor in a smartphone means the smartphone will provide value for the money, which is clearly not the case with OnePlus 10R. And the new Oxygen OS themed Color OS can’t justify the price anymore. Hope OnePlus will work on the pricing in 2023.

Google Pixel 6a:
Finally we have Google Pixel 6a as our last contender. This smartphone is for a very niche consumers, who can compromise some basics for a spectacular camera experience and a clean software. Though Pixel 6a was in news for some big bugs, but team Pixel handled them pretty well. The camera gives almost identical results as original Pixel 6, which means proper flagship results. And it uses the same Tensor chipset as well. So an excellent camera and great performance at relatively lesser price. But what this device lacks can also be a deal breaker for many. Like a 60Hz display, slow charging, and outdated Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Still if you are a professional photographer who likes to take beautiful shots quickly from a smartphone, this phone is for you.
