So let’s get into the article to check out the full details.
The new rule is beneficial for those who do not use voice, data, SMS, and other services on your SIM card for 90 days, as the same will be helping you to keep your number activated with a minimum balance and this will avoid the disconnection after remaining in active for certain time. Currently, the telecom operator can deregister the number from your name and provide it to another customer if your number is inactive for 90 days.
With the new rule, you can prevent this by keeping a minimum balance of Rs 20 on your prepaid number. The network will automatically cut Rs 20 after the 30-day extension and this cycle will keep repeating until you have enough prepaid balance. The new rule will also offer a 15-day grace period to top up your balance. If you fail to do a recharge.
It is worth mentioning that the new TRAI rules only apply to extend the validity of your SIM card for Rs 20 per month, and there is no classification about the incoming calls and OTPs. It might be suspended if you do not have an active base plan. But keeping the number active is a big relief for every individual.
