Back in February Nokia 9 PureView was unveiled with a record Penta Camera setup at the back. Though based on some reviews the camera didn’t stand as it was hyped. Last week we heard that Sony is planning to beat Nokia by placing Hexa Camera setup in their upcoming smartphone. That was only a rumour without any information of any camera. Now today, we got the information.
This new rumour suggests that this camera centric Sony smartphone will have six cameras at the back and two cameras at the front. The primary camera at the back is a 48MP sensor with variable aperture of f1.2 & f2.4. The secondary camera is 12MP sensor with same variable aperture of f1.2 & f2.4. There will be a 0.5MP ToF camera for 3D depth sensing. And other three cameras are 20MP, 16MP, and 8MP sensors, all with f2.4 aperture.
We are expecting one to be a wide angle lens and one telephoto lens. But we don’t have any idea about the functionality of that 12MP unit and other one. Coming to the front, there will be a 10MP sensor along with secondary 0.5MP ToF sensor. Looking at the rendered design, this smartphone is expected to have tall 21:9 aspect ratio. Also the Hexa Camera setup is placed more systematically as compared to Penta Camera setup of Nokia 9 PureView.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. We all know that almost all smartphone OEM uses Sony’s camera hardware even into their flagships, and if Sony will combine this Hexa setup properly then this camera can be a game changer. Also if Sony will work on their software algorithms and improve image processing of their camera app. Do note that as this is not s solid leak, take this configuration with a pinch of salt.
