ColorOS 7 Revealed – Everything You Need To Know

As promised and teased earlier, Oppo has unveiled ColorOS 7 at an event in China. This is a successor to last year’s ColorOS 6 skin, which was based on Android 9 Pie. And this newer skin is based on the latest Android 10. This year Oppo added a lot of changes and new features into this. So without further ado, let’s see the new features and changes of ColorOS 7.

Redesigned User Interface:

The major visual difference with ColorOS 7 is it’s newly designed UI. Starting with icons, these new icons are now more rounded this time. These are resizable and have lighter colours as well. And of course, new icons packs can be installed. There are new Art+ wallpapers. With the partnership of Episound, the sound effects in the software are completely new and had more surround sound than before, similar to what Xiaomi offered with MIUI 11.

Performance Enhancements:

Not only new features, but Oppo has also improved the software optimization for better and efficient performance. According to the OEM, this ColorOS 7 now has better RAM management than before. The app opening time is reduced by 40% and is 30% more efficient. The Gaming experience will also get better with more in-game frame rates and a better touch response. The Game Space, a specific feature to take the maximum output for gaming, also got fee enhancements here and there.

Multimedia:

Talking about features and changes related to multimedia, the Camera app got some new features and changes this time. First, it got enhanced version of Night Mode, Portrait Mode 2.0, and super steady video recording. The gallery app is also new here, named as ‘Soloop’, with options of both editing/enhancing your photos as well as your videos. Hope that this video editing option should have more features than usual trimming, adding BGM, and filters.

Artificial Intelligence:

As we know that AI is a crucial part of our future technologies and smartphones are adopting it in terms of voice assistants. If you don’t know in Chinese ColorOS has an AI voice assistant named ‘Breeno’. With the latest upgrade, this assistant also got enhancements and is now more capable to do tasks than before. There are new features like Driving mode, hands-free mode, and Automated actions.

Availability:

This new ColorOS 7 will be first available for the upcoming Reno 3 smartphone out of the box, which was teased at the end of this event. The Realme smartphones will get slightly modified version of this (most probably near-stock UI). The availability of this new skin on both Oppo and Realme smartphones are mentioned below:-
