As Corona Virus is spreading throughout the world, one might fear the possibility of the virus sticking to your phone. Don’t fret as Samsung has launched a Galaxy Sanitizing Service in 19 countries. So if you wish to free your phone of germs, the service centre team will sanitize it with UV light.
This cleanup is done free of cost, and it uses UV-C light to keep your phone clean without the use of any harmful chemicals. Samsung has assured that this method will not damage your device in any way.
You can bring in any smartphone for the cleanup, and the centre will treat your phone with care at no extra cost. The process takes just 30 seconds, and it will remove 99.9% of germs from your phone.
In the cases of smartwatches and tablets, the process is different and can take up to 3 minutes. Do make sure the centre near your offer this service via their website before heading out.
Samsung has now launched this service in the following countries:- Argentina, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, United States, Ukraine and Vietnam.
The company will soon launch this facility in these countries as well: Australia, Austria, Canada, Czechia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, the Philippines, Romania, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
As a commitment to the environment, Samsung has partnered with Dutch Textile firm Kvadrat to manufacture cases for the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy Watch Active2. This is an excellent initiative aimed at reducing pollution and further damage to the environment. Kvadrat helps in the cause by using thrown plastic bottles (PET) and produce yarn from them, using which cases and covers for Galaxy devices are woven.
As per Kvadrat, a single 500ml bottle has enough material for two galaxy S20+ cases. The method of manufacturing is eco-friendly and results in less CO2 emissions than other methods. This has earned them EU’s Ecolabel Certification. The infographics of the process is shown below.
