DJ Jesse Neo Launches Gemtracks to Allow Musicians to Start Their Own Businesses

To those unfamiliar with the electronic music scene, Jesse Neo is a 23-year-old singer and producer from Sydney, Australia. For several years, he has been living in Los Angeles working for several media companies as a songwriter. His work has been featured in publications such as The Huffington Post and RESPECT Magazine.

Now, the DJ is tuning into a new project, the release of his platform Gemtracks to allow producers allow the world to buy and sell beats. Also, as of this month, users are also able to hire master engineers and book sessions in recording studios.

“I want people that only know me for my music to also know that I am a very technical person,” Jesse told us. “Besides being a musician, I was also pretty good in Maths, science and IT in school. After noticing that the music industry was lacking technological innovation for musicians to make a living, I decided to do something about it.”

For starters, beats on Gemtracks can be sold for up to $600 each. This is because once a beat is sold, it would then be wiped from the website and the buyer would become the new master owner. This means the buyer can make as much profit as they want from their new track without having to pay the producer a cent.

Secondly, everything from the transaction to legal processing is done automatically. This gives time for musicians to concentrate on their art. At the current moment, popular genres on Gemtracks include pop beats and EDM beats.

“The idea of Gemtracks came to me when a lot of my friends in the music industry told me that they were unable to make steady income from their art,” Jesse revealed. “So I looked at internet trends that were happening in other industries and tried to apply them into the music industry.”

Already, several hundred producers have already registered, including Milana Leybovich, I.Y.F.F.E, Beowülf, Taylor Carroll and Lucas Gold. Many have worked for big media companies like Sony, Warner, Universal and Disney. New professionals are also signing up on a daily basis.

“The ultimate goal is to turn Gemtracks into the one-stop place where musicians can go get support, find people to collaborate with, and sell their music,” Jesse explained. “It’s amazing how technology has changed the world, and many people have already been making income at home selling shoes or whatever online. I hope Gemtracks would also let musicians do the same thing.”

Besides being a marketplace, there is also a hidden part of the website dedicated to educating new artists. There is a free e-book that you can download, as well as hundreds of articles and videos to learn more about the industry. This means that even those new to music can have access to resources to help further their careers.

You can listen to Jesse Neo’s music on Spotify and follow him on Instagram.
