Back in last month, the Government of India has ordered that the VPN providers need to keep the information of and user and the same must be provided to the government whenever it has been asked. The new move of the government is against the privacy of a user and the VPN service providers were not happy with the new demand and they said to pull their service from the country. One of the leading VPN service providers ExpressVPN has confirmed to remove the Indian based VPN servers.
The government has directed to keep user data for at least 5 years including IP addresses, usage patterns, and even other forms of identifiable information and the information must be shared with the authorities when requested. VPN service providers were not in the mood to agree with the new rule as it is against the privacy of a user and ExpressVPN has made the very straightforward decision to remove Indian based VPN servers.
ExpressVPN will offer virtual India servers to its users and the same will enable users to access content in India. The company will be offering its servers via Singapore and UK. The new rule has asked to implement by June 27.
