When we browse Internet we don’t like ads popping-up from here and there, and to block ads we use ad blockers. AdBlock Plus extension is very popular, and someone has utilized that popular. As a fake Adblock Plus Chrome extension got 37,000 downloads before taking it off.
The fake extension was downloaded 37,000 times across the globe, and it looked similar to the original one that’s why there is no wonder to see the download number. Thanks to @SwiftOnSecurity, a security research handle has spotted this and shared it on the Twitter account. After the tweet, Google has removed the extension.

It’s feeling strange, as the extension crossed verification barrier of Google. Even with the name of popular service with more than 10 million users. Till now, there are no unwanted issues reported but we shouldn’t assume that the developer of the fake extension didn’t worked hard to make the extension for fun.
So, if you have downloaded the fake Adblock Plus Chrome extension then remove it immediately.
