Couple of days ago, the Mountain View company Google has announced ARCore which is the company’s you augmented reality platform for Android. And the best part of the new ARCore is, it doesn’t need any special hardware to be installed in the smartphones.
And now the first ARCore powered app is ready for public, and it is called AR Atom Visualizer, it has been released in the Google Play Store. Speaking about the app, it is made to let users see 3D animated visualizations of atom models in any real World space on their device.
You can see the models in either the traditional Bohr model, which shows an atom with a central nucleus with electrons in orbit around it, or with the quantum mechanical model, which shows off the atom as an electron cloud.
Once you launch the AR Atom Visualizer app it will also launch your device’s camera, and then tapping on the plus button it will allow you to select which of the 118 elements you want to see in a 3D model. You can also adjust or pause the animation of the model, and learn more about each element by tapping on its Wikipedia entry.
Unfortunately, right now only Google Pixel and Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are the devices which supports the ARCore preview tools along with the SDK. So, if you have any of the devices then you can download the app right now and enjoy it.
