It is said that the government of India is planning to make a new setup that will make future televisions come with an in-built tuner and this will avoid a set-top box. But there is a catch.
It will only offer free channels (DD Free Dish type), and for the paid channels, you need to have a set-top box in your home. It is worth noting that even with the built-in tuner use still need to have a dish/antenna + cable for the signal.
