The popular benchmarking platform Geekbench has officially launched the latest version and it is the new Geekbench 7. It is now coming with the capability of checking how fast a processor is for everyday use performance.

The new benchmarking version will be testing how a phone or PC performs in real everyday use. Let’s check out the smartphone related tests, it will be testing the capability of photo editing along with managing large photo libraries, Screen sharing, voice recording, podcast recording, live captions (powered by OpenAI Whisper AI), AI tasks like face tracking, background blur and AI image upscaling, and support for newer formats like AV1 video, Opus audio, JPEG XL and DNG images.
While the PC-related tests includes video editing, RAW photo editing, video colour grading, 3D rendering with path tracing, fluid simulation, AI workloads, and gaming with a new Game Physics test based on the Jolt Physics engine.
The benchmarking platform has also made many changes, including an improvement in multi-core CPU test that is meant to better match how modern apps actually use multiple CPU cores. The platform has also updated the GPU tests, and it will be using bigger and more demanding workloads.
CUDA support has been added and it is NVIDIA’s technology that lets its graphics cards handle heavy work like AI, video editing, scientific computing and 3D rendering. Geekbench 7 can now benchmark NVIDIA GPUs more accurately and the benchmark now uses much larger and more complex datasets, making the results closer to real-world use.
It is worth mentioning that the newly announced Geekbench 7 scores cannot be compared with Geekbench 6 because the testing method has changed completely. The new benchmarking version is now available on Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS and Linux. You can use it for free of cost but it is only for personal use.
