- It is creating a serious security problem.
- Google needs to work on the same.
To add an extra layer of protection Google introduced a new feature called Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) technology and the same will enable companies to verify the identity and Google will offer a blue checkmark next to the name of a company in the inbox of Gmail. But it is reported that there is a serious security problem in this system.
Chris Plummer, a diligent cybersecurity engineer has reported that scammers can deceive Gmail’s authentication system and the day can enable themselves to appear as legitimate sources and bypass security checks. This discovery was ignored by Google then Plummer took to social media to voice his frustrations.
But now Google has realised the mistake and the company is now compelled to address the vulnerability and fix the problem.
