In November 2016, Google announced that by next update of Google Play Service, they are discontinuing support for Android gingerbread and honeycomb, v10.0 will be the last update for gingerbread & honeycomb. And here we have the next update, that’s V 10.2 . So let’s find out what’s there in the update.
As we have earlier mentioned that the support for Android gingerbread and honeycomb will be going to stop from 10.2 . It means that Google will not provide new safety features and API for other developers to make apps. That means other developers also have to stop the support for gingerbread and honeycomb. So after sometime even Google will also stop updates for gingerbread and honeycomb. So now it’s confirmed that the end of gingerbread and honeycomb is here. We may expect that both version will vanish from the Android monthly chart.
But wait, there are some new features for Android 4.0 Ice Cream & above as well. There are new updated data in Google Fit’s database like heart rate, blood pressure, etc. An extension is also added in Google Sign-in API that will make the game developers to access the Google Play Games easy. There are some more changes as well but those are only for developers, not for users.
So that’s all the information we have right now. We strongly recommend people who use gingerbread and honeycomb devices to move on to a new device with latest OS like nougat or even marshmallow. Stay tuned with us for more information.
