The tech giant Google offers a variety of services and applications across the globe, and today the company has launched a new application in the Indian market and that is called Google Bolo. It is a dedicated reading app, the company is targeting to the users who are adopting smartphones in the rural areas and the application will help children to improve their reading skills.

The all new Google Bolo application is available on Android platform and it is a speech based reading tutor service, that will help rural kids to improve their reading skills and this will be beneficial for those who aren’t able to attain good education support. To encourage the use of the application, the company has implemented in-app reward system which will give badges and word games to the users.
The Google Bolo also has a digital assistant which is dubbed as Diya and she can read the text out loud for the little ones and she can also explain the meaning of the text which is in English. The application can also be shared among many children and it will provide a personalized experience to each and every user.
The Mountain View Google says that the new Bolo app has been built with a focus on native Hindi speakers and the app will allow kids to improve their Hindi as well as English reading skills by encouraging them to read aloud. The app is powered by Google’s speech recognition and text-to-speech technology, and that is bundled with a huge number of engaging stories to help improve their comprehension skills.
Having said that, India is the first place where Google has launched this application and it will be available free to download from Google Play Store and it will work offline as well. Users of the application will get reading materials for free of cost and the company says that they are working with other companies to bring more reading contents into the application.
Google further says that it will be working with partners like Kaivalya, Room to Read, Saajha, and Pratham to further refine it and take it to more children. It has carried out a controlled pilot for three months in 200 villages of Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district where found improvement in 64% primary grade students.
