Sundar Pichai, who is the CEO of both Google and its parent company Alphabet, expressed his willingness to work on more projects with Apple. Both parties had completed a project recently that helped fight the pandemic caused by Coronavirus. This greenlights the possibilities of both Google and Apple working closely in specific crucial projects.
Sundar Pichai recollected his experience in working with the Cupertino company on projects that helped create a Coronavirus tracking system. He added that he is committed to working closely with the rival company in future. For those of you who do not know, Apple and Google worked together on a Notification System Project to help fight COVID-19. He also stated that during the project, he regularly communicated with Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple.
The collaboration of both parties helps develop an API for digital tracking applications. This API would ultimately help predict and analyse the spread of COVID-19. The contact tracing API was recently made available for the public as Exposure Notification in both Android and iOS. What the API aims are to help developers and governments to create applications that enabled digital tracing of the users.
The Exposure Notification uses Bluetooth to alert the users if and when they come in contact with someone who has been tested positive with COVID-19. The applications would work in the background and becomes active when required. This would help users to take extra care to not come in the risk of the pandemic when they are outdoors. The app will be rolled out to Apple customers in iOS 13.5, and Google is working on releasing the same as early as next month.
