The Mountain View company Google announced the Google News at Google I/O 2018 event, and the new app will replace the Google Play Newsstand on mobile and desktop and it will also replace the Google news and weather app on mobile.
This all-new Google News app is powered by the Artificial Intelligence (AI) along with a brand new design. It also comes with sections like ‘For You’, ‘Full Coverage’ and ‘Newsstand’, along with ‘Newscasts’ and ‘Subscribe with Google’. As the app uses AI, the app will give news in real-time and organize into storylines, and the AI will help the app to understand “the people, places, and things involved in a story as it evolves, and connects how they relate to one another”.
Now coming to the sections, the ‘For You’ section, is the section where you will get news which “you care about”. It will display a briefing of five news stories which will be mixed with important headlines, local news, and, the latest stories from topics you are interested in. Moreover, the company says that the app will serve better as the more you use it.
Moving to the ‘Newscasts’ which is a collection of articles, videos, and quotes on a certain topic which can provide more information on that topic. Next up, ‘Full Coverage’ section, here you will get a deeper look at a story by letting you see how that story is reported by various sources. You can also check out a story by checking videos, local news reports, FAQs, social commentary and more.
Finally, the ‘Newsstand’ tab which will allow you to follow your favorite news sources while also discovering new ones. You can also access more than 1,000 magazine titles which are optimized for a better mobile reading experience. Moreover, you can also subscribe to your favourite news sources by signing in with your Google account.
Speaking about the availability, the all new Google News app has started to roll out will be available on Android, Web, and IOS by next week.
