Today Google Celebrates Swedish scientist Eva Ekeblad in her 293rd birthday with Doodle to honor. She got fame for discovering that alcohol and flour can be produced from the potatoes which paved the way to vodka and potato wine.

Eva Ekeblad was Born in the first quarter of the 18th century, researched multiple uses for plants, So-called Agronomist (a person who researches multiple uses of plants). In 1746, Eva Ekeblad sent papers to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on her discoveries of producing flour and alcohol out of potatoes. Before her discovery, potatoes weren’t considered edible for humans, only reserved for animals. She started experimenting with potatoes on her own and found the vegetables can be made into a form of flour by drying it. This started path for gluten-free baking and alcohols such as potato wine, moonshine, and vodka.
Eva Ekeblad also researched on increasing the supply of wheat, rye and barley.This solved food crisis in Sweden. Royal Swedish Academy has elected Eva Ekeblad in 1748 for her contributions on agriculture.she was the first women to receive this honor, that wouldn’t be bestowed on another woman for another 203 years. However, there are no records of her participation in the Academy meetings. In 1751, She also discovered a method of bleaching cotton textile and yarn with soap. After her death in 1786, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences wouldn’t elect another woman until 1951 after her death in 1786.
Google honored Eva Ekeblad with a doodle resembling a cutting board/kitchen board with a sliced potato having carved Eva’s face and a quantity of flour made from potatoes. The Google entirely consists of potato skill peeled off to get GOOGLE doodle.
To be remembered this day on history marked as the birthday of Sir Nikola Tesla, the father of Modern AC systems and Wireless power transmission.
