But now it seems that things are going to be changed in the near future as Google is reportedly planning to shape and design the Google Tensor mobile processor under its roof. According to the latest information, the search engine giant Google has relied on Samsung to design and manufacture the Google Tensor chip for the past two generations of Google devices but it is expected that the company might change the strategy with the upcoming Google Tensor G3, G4, and G5 chips.
It is reported that the Google Tensor G3 mobile processor is expected to be co-designed with Samsung’s System LSI arm and manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process and the mobile processor may adopt a “1+4+4” nine-core design, consisting of one 3.30GHz Cortex-X3 core, four Cortex-A715 cores at 2.60GHz, and four 2.20GHz-2.30GHz Cortex-A510 cores.
While the Google Tensor G4 mobile processor is expected to design completely in-house and manufacture them using TSMC‘s 4nm process and the Google Tensor G5 is rumored to be using TSMC’s 3nm process for manufacturing.
Having said that, switching the strategy involves lots of risks and challenges and we need to wait and see how Google will tackle the same. There is no official confirmation about the new strategy at the moment of time and we recommend you to take the information with a pinch of salt.
