The South Korean electronics giant Samsung offers the interesting item dubbed the Samsung DeX and the same is one of the highlighting features of Samsung phones. It actually enables you to convert your handheld into something that resembles a desktop computing experience. Now the Mountain View company Google is gearing up to give a perfect alternative in its own desktop mode for Pixel devices.
Android 15 features a developer preview of a “desktop windowing” option and the same is meant for the Google Pixel Tablet. Now it is said to that the upcoming Android 16 will enhancing the feature and the same will be labeled “Enable desktop experience features.”
Thanks to the team at the Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman, as they are bringing light into this feature. The source has enabled the feature on the Google Pixel 8 Pro and the device is connected to a laptop. The Android desktop interface has a taskbar at the bottom along with three-button navigation on the right. The taskbar houses the most recent apps along with the capability to launch multiple apps in split-screen view.
There is a swipe down capability and that will open a quick access menu and the layout also offers they regular options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles with options to add more or you can also remove the items from the menu.
You will also get the battery indicator at the top right of the home screen, while the time is displayed on the top left side. We can expect the complete and polished version of this in the final version of the upcoming Android 16.
