The long awaited Google Pixel Fold is officially announced during the Google I/O 2023 event. It is the first ever foldable smartphone of Google and the device is coming with a compact design along with heavy specifications on the board. The device features a triple rear camera setup with a 48 megapixel primary sensor.
The back panel of the device is having glossy glass and a shiny camera bar. The device also features thick but symmetrical bezels on the front and it is having a new teardrop hinge mechanism to minimize the visible display crease.
Specifications of Google Pixel Fold
The newly announced Google Pixel Fold sports a 7.6-inch inner display with 1,840 x 2,208 pixels resolution along with a 6:5 aspect ratio, 380ppi pixel density, and a 120Hz refresh rate while the outer display of the device measures a 5.8-inch with full-HD+ resolution along with a 17.4:9 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. The external display is having Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection while the inner display has a plastic coating.
It is coming with the power of the Google Tensor G2 mobile processor along with a Titan M2 security chip. The device is coming with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. The company is also promising to offer five years of Pixel updates for the foldable.
Speaking about the camera department, the Google Pixel Fold features a triple rear camera setup and that is in the combination of a 48-megapixel primary wide-angle lens with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), CLAF and an f/1.7 aperture along with a 10.8-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 121-degree field of view and an f/2.2 aperture as well as a 10.8-megapixel dual PD telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and 20x Super Res Zoom.
The device is also having a 9.5-megapixel sensor with a 1.22 pm pixel width, f/2.2 aperture, and fixed focus on the outer display while the inner display is having an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus. Just like any other Pixel device, the Google Pixel Fold is also coming with an amazing camera setup and incredible features like a Magic Eraser along with Photo Unblur, and Night Sight. It is also having features such as Real Tone, Long Exposure, Panorma, and Portrait among others.
The Google Pixel Fold supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, Google Cast, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity. It is also supporting a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a face unlock. It is also coming with stereo speakers and three microphones. The company is also offering Google One VPN access as well.
It is housing a 4,821mAh battery with 30W charging and also supports the capability to charge wirelessly on a standard Qi charger.
Pricing and availability
The new Google Pixel Fold will be available in the US with a starting price tag of $1,799 and the same is available in the colour options such as Obsidian and Porcelain. The shipping of the device will start from June 27 and the device will be available in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.
