Earlier today Google released First Developer Preview for Android P, the next version of Android or I would say 2018 version of Android. This Developer Preview comes with a lot of new UI changes as well as other background improvements. But as this is First Preview out there, even Google is not recommending to try this on your main smartphone (the compatible one). That’s because it’s too unstable as of now.
So for those normal users, Google has issued a timeline for all the Developer Previews as well as all the releases. Even though they didn’t mention any specific date for an update, but they have mentioned all the name and number of previews of Android P program.
Here’s the timeline of all the Developer Preview updates:
- Preview 1 (initial release, very unstable)
- Preview 2 (incremental update, on Beta, improved yet unstable)
- Preview 3 (final APIs and official SDK release, somehow unstable)
- Preview 4 (incremental, somehow stable)
- Preview 5 (incremental, final testing)
- Final Release (available to all users, stable).
Though Google didn’t mention any specific date for any of these releases, they mentioned that Final OTA will release on Q3 of this year. Well, that’s expected by looking at the track record. Also, the Preview 3 is expected to release somewhere in May, at the Google I/O Developer Event. So we would expect that we will see an almost final list of features, changes, and improvements at that period of time.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. If you are on any of the compatible devices? Are you going to wait for the Beta OTA release? Or will you flash the ROM right now? Also if you already flashed the Android P Preview 1, what are your initial impressions? Do share your thoughts in the comment section below. Also, stay tuned with us for more information.
