Google has already confirmed to release the new Android 16 operating system earlier than its usual timeline and it is expected to be announced during the upcoming Google I/O 2025 event which will be starting on May 20. Today the developers of the operating system have released the Android 16 Beta 2 with multiple improvements. So let’s get into the article to check out the full details.
The newly released Android 16 beta 2 comes with camera upgrades including hybrid auto exposure, precise color temperature and tint adjustments. The update also features motion photo capture and support for Ultra HDR images in the HEIC file format. The company is also working to bring AVIF support for Ultra HDR in future builds.
Google is also supporting custom graphical effects with the Android Graphics Shading Language (AGSL) in the latest Android 16 beta 2 and these include complex effects like Threshold, Sepia, and Hue Saturation.
The latest Android 16 Beta 2 also sports new granular health and fitness permissions, it also comes with default security hardening against Intent redirection attacks and an updated 16 KB page size compatibility mode and it is now supporting applications built for 4KB memory pages ss well.
Google is also bringing accessibility improvements to TalkBack, support for elements with multiple labels, and improved support for expandable UI elements. The application is also improving streaming applications and the same will be supporting dynamically adjust video quality based on device capabilities.
The update will be available on Google Pixel 6 and above. Those who have enrolled in the beta program will receive an OTA for the new Beta update.
