The search engine giant Google has launched Google Search AR that features popular Japanese characters such as Pac-Man, Hello Kitty, and Gundam. If a user searches for these characters on the Google app installed on their smartphones, these AR images will pop up.
These characters can be viewed on the various scale and even in life-size. This is done with the help of Google’s ARCore technology and can be viewed via the camera app. According to the company, Pac-Man is the most searched character closely followed by Hello Kitty.
Some of the notable names in the list include Cogimyun, Evangelion (EVA-01 Test Type), Gomora, Gundam (Odysseus Gundam, Xi Gundam, Penelope), Kogi-min the Taiko Master, Little Twin Stars, Pac-Man, Pompompurin, the drums from Taiko no Tatsujin, Ultraman, Ultraman Belial, and Ultraman Zero. You can check the full list of characters available in the app by clicking here.
People from Peru searched for dot-gobbler the most, and Hello Kitty searches, which ranked second, had a share of less than half of Pac-Man, which was at the top. Android users can view these characters by searching for them inside the Google app or via any browser but make sure to select ‘View in 3D’ option. This feature is supported on devices running Android 7 or above. While all users can view 3D images, only ARCore enabled devices can see the AR content. The iPhone users would need a device that runs iOS 11 or above to view 3D and AR content.
