The search engine giant Google always tries to bring new things into its various platforms, and now the company wants to tighten security. As the Mountain View company wants to replace its SMS codes with mobile prompts in 2-step verification.

From the date of July 17, when the user will sign in they will be invited to try the prompt feature, in this way Google will replace all the SMS code users to the mobile prompts. If you are unaware about the Prompt feature, then it is introduced in February 2017 which enables authentication easier than the SMS verification.
Once you enable the 2-step verification with the mobile prompt, it will show in real time on the user’s smartphone or tablet as to who is signing in and it will ask your permission when you tap ‘Yes’ then only Google allow to proceed. It will also show details of the location and device which are going to sign in, but for this purpose you need to be online while SMS does not need that thing.
This feature will also available on iOS device, but user’s need to install the Google app on their device to gain this facility.
I would say this is really a great step by Google, as text messages can lead to phishing into the account. So, the best thing to protect users account is the new mobile prompts method.
