Google has removed a popular extension on Chrome which is reported as mining Cryptocurrency without any permission. The report states that the extension has been mining cryptocurrency from over 105,00 users without their knowledge.
Some of you might be scratching your head on how an extension is involved in this activity. This extension acts as an in-browser cryptocurrency miner which simply takes control of the CPU and mines for Monero without any permissions which are simply called as Cryptojacking.
This extension which is a miner for cryptocurrency runs on background until the user exits the chrome. The extension had incorporated the cognitive an in-browser miner in its source code which is also used by Pirate Bay. Similarly, Facebook was also attacked by a bot called Digimine which is a cryptocurrency-mining bot to mine the Monero.
Cryptocurrency is the hottest topic of the last year which has both pros and cons on its own. Cybercrime rate is also increasing to get cryptocurrency.This Cryptojacking might become the next hot topic of 2018 which leads to deep impact in the cyber world.
