The rivalry between Google and Amazon is not a new chapter for the tech lovers, now the tech giant takes on the Amazon’s Echo Show. As the virtual Assistant of Google i.e. Google Assistant will power the new category of devices which will be called as Smart Displays.
With the Smart Displays, Google wants to give a head-to-head competition with the Amazon’s Echo Show. As the device will able to provide all the valid information which you ask for it. For instance, if you ask directions then it will launch the Google Maps and it will give you the option to send the direction to your smartphone. It also has the ability to bring your favorite videos from YouTube, to make video calls through the video calling app of Google- Duo, and it can also bring your favourite images which are stored in the Google Photos.
Moreover, the tech giant has also announced that it has joined its hand with four manufacturers and they are; Sony, JBL, Lenovo, and LG. The Smart Displays sales will kicks-off later this year, and Lenovo has already showcased one of them at the on-going CES 2018 event.
The Japanese electronics giant will use MediaTek MT8173 SoM in its products, and rest of three companies will power their products with Qualcomm SD624 Home Hub Platform. And all of these will be powered by Android Things and also have Cast built-in.
We can even expect that Google will also bring their own devices in this category, right now we can only guess on this.
