The Mountain View company Google is expected to launch the new Google Tensor G5 chipset and it will be the biggest change of the company as it will be the first in-house silicon. It was previously suggested that the company will move away from Samsung’s foundries and opt for TSMC’s advanced 3nm manufacturing process.
But now it seems that fabrication is not the only area which Google is going to switch but the company will also switch the GPU providers entirely. As a now-deleted document suggested that the upcoming Google Tensor G5 will be using Imagination Technologies’ GPUs.
If this information is correct then we will witness for a shift away from the Arm Mali GPUs which the company has used in previous Tensor chips. The upcoming GPU is said to be the DXT-48-1536, a modern graphics processor and the same will be supporting some advanced features such as ray tracing.
The upcoming Google Tensor G5 is also expected to come with several fully custom components such as a new image signal processor (ISP) and the upcoming chipset will come with a more independent solution. Moreover, the upcoming chipset is rumored to feature a custom memory controller, system-level cache, and power management modules. The processor will also depend on third-party solutions for USB, PCIe, display interfaces, and LPDDR5x memory.
So let’s wait for the launch of the upcoming Google processor and you guys are recommended to stick with us for more updates from the world of technology.
