The Mountain View company Google has officially announced that it is shutting down Google Assistant which means the very popular digital assistant will be no more. Google is actually not going away from the digital assistant competition as the company is migrating the old player with the new player.
Google Gemini will be your new digital assistant on the Android platform. So, when you press the power button or say “Hey Google” on supported Android phones, tablets, Wear OS watches, headphones, or Android Auto, Gemini will launch instead of Google Assistant.
Now let’s check out the date of the new transition, the company has announced that it will be shutting down Google Assistant on September 4. It might take some time to be shut down on all the active devices around the world.
Having said that, Google Assistant will be available for now on at least Google TV, Google Home speakers, and Google smart displays. The company says that it is committed to offer a smooth transition and the company is confident that “Gemini will offer you an even more capable and helpful assistant experience.
