Even after the OnePlus 6 launched last week, the hype of the smartphone is not settling down, just like the company says – ‘Never Settle’. We are getting few updates here & there about the device’s record sales, end-users experience, etc. Talking about the software we all know that it runs on near stock Android experience i.e. OxygenOS. Till now we thought that apart from project treble support, there’s nothing much new in the software. But we were wrong, as the company had one more feature which they kept in the wrap. But now it’s known to us.
This OnePlus 6 is the first OnePlus device to have the support of Google’s seamless upgrade feature. With this feature, the phone will get updated much faster. It was first introduced with the launch of first gen Pixel devices. With this support, the software update gets automatically downloaded as well as ‘Installed’ in the background. It means the users don’t need to turn off the phone for 10-12 minutes to update it. The update will be installed while using the phone, and just by rebooting the device when users are free, the update will be applied. So OnePlus 6 is now amongst the few non-pixel devices which have Seamless Update support. The only con of this feature is the storage. This feature takes a bit more storage but as OnePlus 6’s minimum storage is 64GB, it shouldn’t be a problem at all.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. With features like this, OnePlus is surely keeping the care of those people who hardly update their phone, some not even update it once. What are your thoughts on this feature? Do you wish that this feature should be implemented with every upcoming smartphone? Do share your thoughts in the comment section below.
