Google has launched Toontastic 3D earlier this year, a free app for children that adults might find fun to use as well. The application allows kids to create animated videos to explore their creativity. Google describes the application as a “digital puppet theater. The application is very simple and straightforward. The user has to select the scene, a type of animation. With three story lines, a short story, a classic story and a science report. Each story is cut up into parts, or scenes. The app has an “Idea Lab” section that has example animations so kids can understand what the application is capable of. It also has a video lesson on storytelling by animator Austin Madison who has worked on a number of Pixar movies including Wall-E, Up and Brave.
Now the company has released an update that adds two new content themes, and one of them is based on the upcoming, and highly anticipated, Disney-Pixar movie Cars 3, and the other is Fruit Ninja Theme.
The Cars 3 theme will let kids create their own movies using some of Pixar’s famous car characters like Lightning McQueen, Mater, and others. Two locations from Cars 3, the Florida 500 raceway and the Thunder Hollow demolition derby, are also included. But this content is only available for a limited time upto September 30 later it will be removed from the Toontastic 3D app.
The app’s second new theme has characters and settings from the animated series Fruit Ninja Frenzy Force, based on the popular Fruit Ninja games from developer Halfbrick. As with the Cars 3 theme, it will allow kids to make their own episodes with characters like Peng, Seb, Niya and Ralph and does not have an expiration date.
