The government has released a notification and that is confirming that the restrictions are on the import of laptops, computers, and tablets. It is also confirmed that imports of such equipment will now require a valid license.
It is worth mentioning that the new rule is applicable to the products which comes under the HSN 8741 category. But it will be allowed import for purposes specified by the government such as research and development, benchmarking, repairs, and product development.
There are some reduce as well. If you are a Traveller then you can bring that type of gadget and if the product is exported from India for repair then it can be re-imported to India.
