It was reported that Instagram is working on a new application that will offer a head to head competition against the very popular micro-blogging platform Twitter. Instagram will be offering the application with a text-based updates capability and that will sync with your Instagram account and others. Well, now Instagram has officially confirmed about the application and it is planning to launch the upcoming application very soon.
The company is yet to set a name for the upcoming application and the same is codenamed “Project 92,” but it is expected to be dubbed Threads. It is said that Instagram has showcased the application. The screenshots of the application is confirming that the application is having a Twitter-like user interface and the application will enable users to share text posts from various people presented in a centralised feed. The application will also feature buttons below each post to heart (like), comment, reshare or share the post.
The menu tab will be below and the same will be having a button for the home page, search, new post, likes, and profile. The upcoming application will also sync with your Instagram account which means you can able to import your data over to the new app. The data includes your followers, people you follow, your handle, bio, and even verification.
It is also said that Instagram is also adding support for other applications that are integrated with Activity Hub like Mastodon. Unfortunately, there is no information about the launching date of the new application of Instagram.
