‘Face ID’ has been a thing since the very launch of Apple iPhone X. The most expensive iPhone ever doesn’t have a basic fingerprint sensor but a security feature which involves a combination of camera technology inside it to unlock the phone, by identifying the face of the user. Well, Apple has been a trendsetter for quite a few years now and the latest Face ID feature has inspired other companies to give a try at it as well.
This technology was unveiled at the end of launch of Honor V10, the camera system captures 3,00,000 points ( this is 10 times more than what the iPhoneX captures) and uses a projector and Infrared to create a 3D map of the user. This feature can be used in a variety of lighting conditions, and also for things like secure payments.
Whether the Facial recognition is secure or not is a question rising among many users, with the ongoing experiments going on with the Face ID, and the latter being failed in most of them. It is a thing to be worried about, since the Smartphones today carry much more sensitive and private data than before, which should be secured with a foolproof security system like a Fingerprint scanner.
However, when will this technology be available on Honor Smartphones is not yet known as the company didn’t specify, but we will have to wait until at least 2018 to get a clearer picture.
