The latest UPI Circle feature was originally announced in September 2024 by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the latest feature will enable a person to add a secondary user to their bank account to make UPI payments and the new feature is finally available to all Indian users. Today we will be checking out the way to use UPI Circle in step by step guide.
How to Set Up UPI Circle in Your UPI App
Let’s learn the way to setup UPI Circle, this particular feature is currently available only on the BHIM app and this feature will be available in Google Pay and other UPI apps very soon. The setup requires the BHIM app to be installed on both phones, i.e., primary account holder and secondary user.
On Primary Account Holder’s Phone:
You need to search for the UPI Circle option in the BHIM App and select the ‘Add Family or Friends’ button. Now you need to enter the UPI address, or scan the QR code of the person whom you want to add as your secondary user. Now enter the phone number of the secondary user in the primary account holder’s phone, for verification.
UPI Circle will enable you to choose between two options including Partial delegation that will enable the primary account holder to manually approve every payment request of the secondary user. While the second option is the Full Delegation and this feature will enable the secondary users to make UPI payments up to Rs 15,000 without approval from the primary account holder and it is worth mentioning that the limit can be modified anytime.
As soon as you select the type of delegation, you need to tick the checkbox and tap ‘Proceed.’ If you have selected Full Delegation option, you need to enter the limit for the secondary user and the maximum monthly limit is Rs 15,000. Now you need to set the End date for the delegation which is actually the expiry date of the feature.
Now you need to select the bank account from which the money will be debited and tap on ‘Proceed’. This will be sending an invitation for UPI Circle to the secondary user.
On Secondary User’s Phone:
It is needed to open the invitation for UPI Circle and simply check the Terms and Conditions. You also need to tap on the ‘Accept’ button. The UPI Circle will get activated for both the primary account holder and the secondary user. Now let’s check out the ways to make the transactions and make payments using the newly implemented feature.
How to Make Payments with UPI Circle
It is needed to scan any UPI QR code, or select any contact from the BHIM app. Now you need to select the bank account of the primary account holder and complete the transaction. If the secondary user is added under full delegation, the transaction will be done immediately. If the partial delegation feature is enabled, the primary account holder requires to manually approve the request from their BHIM app.
